So this was cool . . . Star Wars Symphony content.

The Sun Valley Symphony played the entire score to Star Wars, A New Hope, while the movie played on large screens both in the amphitheater and out on the lawn, with the excellent PA system out there. Lots of folks dressed up and/or brought themed food and treats. Chewie was seen running through the crowd mid way through. And the orchestra was amazing! We are pretty lucky we get to come to this, and the rest of the more traditional symphony nights, for free each year.

Check out a little of each vid. You can hear how great it was. And in the second vid, you get a little view of the facilities.

That's really cool! Probably six or seven ago there was a full, John Williams/Lucasfilm touring collab, where they opened up the vaults and had some really cool star wars props and sketches, and actual excerpts from William's original score. Two giant movie screens were broadcast behind the orchestra, and Anthony Daniels himself was the evening's host.

I got to see Maestro Williams conduct the BSO doing the same thing in 1984 after Jedi had been in theaters awhile. They didn't use Symphony hall, they used the Wang Center in Boston. It had room for the movie screens. That was a f'n EPIC experience.
