So last night, while goofing around on the guitar...

I discovered this great equation.....

Benford Tele neck pickup + Hyde side of jekyl/hyde pedal + Chorus side of H2O + DRRI = nailing Robin Trower's tone on the Bridge Of Sighs CD. I had some thick, luscious rhythm tones going.

I don't actually know any Trower songs, but that tone was there in spades. I was messing around with the Hendrix 'Purple Haze' chord (whatever it is officially called) , Cm and assorted of notes and chords and came up with some cool riffs.

It's a beautiful thing when you run across a sound by accident that gets the ball rolling like that...:thu:

interesting. i thought Trower used a univibe. how did you have the chorus set up?

the Hendrix chord is Eb7#9. or E7#9 if you're tuned to E standard.

Trower probably did use a univibe, and a crap load of other stuff. I really don't remember the chorus settings since I was messing around with it and I'm not home right now. I use less 'sweep' than Trower would have used, but that is more a personal preference and getting that vibe without exactly copping the tone (and I don't have a deja vibe which is I believe what he uses now...).

you can get a pretty decent univibe sound out of a flanger or a good phase pedal. some choruses will do it to, and it's no surprise that the VS will. it's not exactly the same, but does the job. i actually prefer these sounds to an actual univibe. they're a bit more controlled.
