Well, we guitar nerds know Metheny, but he is not a household name.

I remember when a student identified Paul McCartney as that "old dude who did a song with Kanye."

you're both missing my point. even if Metheny is mostly only known to the guitar nerd community, of all the instruments out there, why would someone's first pick be banjo? i mean it's almost as obscure as answering 'bassoon'.

Because it is Jeopardy, and you expect the obscure.


And thinking about it, in the day and age of "Americana", banjo isn't that obscure. Even Swiftie has been seen with a banjo (though a 6-string model, I believe).
