Should I buy it?

Think of it this way. A 27" scale is going to be one fret longer than a 25.5" scale. Jim created the Swan to string up in standard tuning with greater tension and and a brighter feel for his solo jazz guitar stylings. $1000 is a good deal. The question is whether you care for the scale length or not.

I'm not sure if 'brighter' was what he was going for... His ideal goal (at that point, at least) was to chase George Van Eps's sound, which was incredibly dark, though incredibly clear and precise.

No.

Either you won't like it, or you will like it and then purge all other guitars because they're not the same feel or some Shit.
