should I buy a squier Cabronita?

angry tele

L'effet c'est moi
My local M&P has a squier cab that I checked out and
it played really well and was really light. (7lbs)
so the next day I thought about it and figured ill put the minimum
down and put it on layaway.
One the the biggest reasons was because it was so light I figured it would be sold in a minute.
these guys pretend to know their shit and I asked several times IS IT ALDER or BASSWOOD?
they said alder. 2 different sales guys. They dont work on comish either (which is hard to believe but whatevs)
yadyadayada google its basswood. Now im not a wood corking snob but I do like my teles
to be ash or alder. I know EVH and Surh swear basswood is the shit when it comes to TONE
but again in teles? and light basswood is not nearly as rare as light alder....

anywho I have a bridge replacement all ready to go (see pic),
and i plan on making the volume pot a tone pot-having no tone is unacceptable.
especially on a brightass tele....wtf were they thinking?
(I can live sans vol. I might wire the switch B-B&N-Kill)

If how it sounds and how it plays makes you happy then what else is there?

spite? maybe youre right...thats why I asked!

Im sure at TGP they say, "no. dont buy that POS" lol

theres a guy that works there on TGP so I cant ask their anyway even if i wanted

As long as you don't mind dings in the wood every time you look at it, basswood is fine.
You can dent that stuff just by walking past it.

Never buy anything you aren't 100% on.

see im never 100% on any guitar.
Im not a 'run the racks' person.
it takes me weeks if not months living with a guitar to know how well or shitty it really is.

I am always underwhelmed with guitars in the store. even ones that turn out to be great.

my CVC was the only tele I bought because of how well it played in the store...

I'd build my own parts cab, but that's how I am with Teles.
They are so easy to bolt together there's no reason not to. Do it yourself and get exactly what you want.

Basswood is fine btw. Light weight and sounds good.

That's not quite what I mean.

If you have an irrational hatred of basswood, then just don't buy it. It's not worth trying to convince yourself to fulfill some consumeristic need when you're just not that into it.
