Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend

Last night saw the end of a 32 year old pair of flip flops I've had since I was 6. These things have battle scars from my first pet cat and have travelled many states in-between.

R.I.P. flip flops

Here they are with me trying to save them by making then look whole.

When I was growing up, I was living with my dad and we didn't have a lot of money at the time. So when he got me those, they were huge on me. The idea was that I'd grow into them.

I don't remember my shoe size when I got those, but I currently wear 11.5-12 depending on the maker.

how is it possible those did not fall apart ? aren't they only like half inch thick? It seems they would have worn through. Anyway 32 years from since you were 6...damn! I could not thow those away, they would go in the closet or a box with other memorabilia....those flip flops are like your life story man.......

I feel your pain. I may be saying goodbye to an old friend too. The belt I bought 25 years ago may finally be on its way out. It is the only belt I have owned since I was 21 and I have only used 2 notches on it in that time.
