I like it on some sandwiches and stuff as posted above. I'm not just gonna grab a fork and dig into it by itself though.

This is my favorite sauerkraut recipe. You can use whatever kind of German/Alsatian/Polish sausages that you like with it. I usually add smoked ribs. There are a lot of Polish delis near me so it's easy to get a good variety.

Serve it with a semi dry white wine. Riesling works well.

Two of my three daughters are coming over on the weekend and they love sausages and sauerkraut since they were children...The ribs thing is very interesting. I love cooking with wines...Thanks for the info...
 
I use a crock pot to cook the ham hocks and make the broth. I just put them in and let it cook overnight. It works well.
