I have been waiting for this bad boy for a while. I did a thread before on the RODE XY but it only worked on the older iPhones (4S and prior). RODE finally has come out with the iXY for the Lightning iPhones so now I can get one for my 5 for live shows.

I'd really want to try one out first, which is practically impossible. In my experience, Rode mics are usually pretty hyped in the highs. That particular clipped didn't sound too bad, and the ones on the webpage sounded a bit better, but at $200 I don't think it's worth it.

At that price point why not buy an Apogee MiC, which you can use on pad/phone or as a USB mic on your computer? I think it sounds better too, even though it isn't stereo. I'll take a good mono recording over a mediocre stereo one anyday.
