Revisiting

A great deal on a VHT Special 6 Ultra head fell in my lap and so being GASSY it's now mine. I had one a few years ago and had to unload it not because I didn't like it but because I was relocating and wanted to lighten my load. First thing I did was change the Chinese tubes. I forgot, but there are some very good tones in this little box.

Right on. I have the non-ultra version and it sounds pretty good.

I have the Special and the Ultra. Both are the combos. I run them in stereo with a slight slap-back going to the special. I've gotten many complements on the sound. These amps are true class A amps and can get quite loud. The 6V6 tubes rule in a small amp like this. My amp guy says the wiring is impeccable.

I had the Ultra Combo. Sold it cause - well because I'm Woody. I still keep my eyes open for a used one and could see myself picking one up.

I had both the Special and Ultra and ended up selling both because, well, you all know why. This Ultra came around at a bargain so I thought I'd re-visit with it again. I'm glad I did.
