Having worked in different restaurants, I don’t mind talking to a manager type person if I see one walking around. I don’t demand anything but ask what’s going on. Usually end up getting something comped. We might go out to eat a couple times a month. Haven’t had to do this in years. Drive throughs don’t count and I can’t tell you the last time I was in a mid level chain type place.

I get pissed at myself for not being a Karen sometimes.
Yesterday driving home at midnight from a concert I stopped at a roadside with a McD to get drinks. Ordered a chocolate shake, sprite and figured, since I'm the only one in this place and the folks looked shocked to see me, that I'll get some fries. I put in my order and went to the restrooms. Came back to find my order waiting for me. Went out to the car, we start driving away. Shake was plain vanilla, sprite was just carbonated water and the fries were just heat lamp warm.
If I was a Karen type I would have checked the order before I left the store.
