Who's been? And who's been to the Hard Rock Punta Cana?

Gimme some pointers Weiners.

It's where our folk who are a bit too posh for Spain but a bit too scummy for the actual Caribbean go on holiday. Make of that what you will.

Hope this isn't another Fyre Festival. :i:

I've heard good things about Punta Cana, and the DR resorts in general. Haven't been there myself. No direct flight from here last I checked.

I have been to Punta Cana, but I can't help much.

We were there 14 years ago for our honeymoon and it wasn't big like it is now. There were just the Iberostar resort we stayed at and one smaller one next door. I hear it's huge now.

Great diving and really beautiful beaches. I remember it being twice as hot at night and twice as humid, even though that doesn't make any sense. We were there in late September. That's really all I've got.

What does this mean?
I haven't been to the festival, but I've been to Punta Cana. The resort was ok, but it's what you'd expect from a resort. We went off reservation as well, and parts were beautiful, but it wasn't my favorite place.

That being said, I'd jump at the chance to get to that show.

I have been to that exact hard rock place in the DR. About 3 years ago.

There is a casino attached with a nightclub that IS NOT part of the All Inclusive. The casino is run by a separate company.

You can buy cuban cigars in the Hard Rock for top dollar or you can buy them much cheaper off the beach.

Its BIG and spread out. You will be walking unless you upgrade to a golf cart.

I used to go to PC a lot. More Europeans, less tacky than Cancun / Riviera Maya. There were some OK resorts, and the beach there is phenomenally nice.

That said, I can't imagine what a shitshow this is going to be. That shore gets 'full' when each resort has it's allocated 1,500 - 2,500 guests ... if this event draws a lot of people, it'll be a zoo.

FWIW, I recommend the Barcelo. Food is average at best, and the booze is exactly what everyone gets, but the price is decent if you book direct, their beach location is great, and many of the rooms are nice.
