i think i missed posting this one earlier, and that's too bad because it's one seriously amazing guitar. this is a McInturff Taurus "Sportster" built by Terry McInturff. at a glance, it may look like just another LP-type singlecut guitar, but it's a very different animal.
it's got a longer scale length (25-1/8" if i recall correctly), and deeper body, internal chambering and a five-way switch that gets some amazing tones i don't normally associate with a dual-humbucker guitar. a couple of the settings sound VERY strat-like. Pos 1 Bridge Series, Pos 2 Outer Coils Parallel, Pos 3 Bridge&Neck Series, Pos 4 Inner coils Parallel, Pos 5 Neck Series. the custom-spec'd Dimarzios are just so perfect in this guitar. it sounds so huge in every setting, but doesn't overpower the EQ in a band setting. all the components are top-notch. i love the overall appearance - all the appointments are simple and look nice (IMO). the figuring on the mahogany is beautiful and the faux binding is subtle and classy. the neck is huge like a Gibson '57 Reissue LP. i love it. it is light, despite the appearance with the thicker body. this was one of three guitars i had in regular rotation right up until i stopped playing out. i really need to play this one more often. if you look closely, you can see where i wore the finish away on the upper bout where my picking arm extends over the body.
