One Got Away!!! Feel Bad 4 Me....

So yesterday I was looking for another Höfner on Ebay Classifieds to possibly refurbish, or make another electrified archtop, but this time with a cutaway. As I was looking I came across a 1960 Höfner President listed as "Defect" for 280€ OBO.

I put it in my favorites to see if I still like it the next day. It has knobs that have broken (12€ fix), a poti that turns hard but works (could be a WD-40 fix, or maybe the knob got pushed in, even replacing the whole thing isn't all that expensive unless you want original) and a neck base Break that looks relatively clean that I could glue and clamp myself.

As for the guitar, it has a 1960 Ser #, beautiful and beautifully aged tobacco burst, 5 piece neck, an original celluloid pickguard, compensated trapeze and toaster buckets.

Today I checked back in to see if I still want it. Well, need I say ........ Look at this thing

So I check with the wife and she says to go ahead if I feel I can fix it. I send the message just to hear back 30 minutes later that he has someone where he's just waiting on the payment to go through. :-/
He'll get back with me if it doesn't go through...

That’s a pretty guitar.

The neck looks repairable as long as it moves back into alignment without binding up on the break.

It is pretty. The neck break would be deal breaker for me. I’d be afraid the neck would tend to pull to one side, causing it to constantly go out of tune.

Nah, hypodermic needle with slightly watered down wood glue, drive a couple of thin nails into the break to widen it a bit more, squirt glue into break, pull nails, clamp it and a day or two later it's stronger than before. Someone here taught me that when I erroneously bought an Epiphone LP with a snapped headstock. I didn't need the nails, it snapped clean off at home .

UV activated super glue fixes the finish, since I don't mind having visible damage.

I’m skeptical that a neck break down near the body is the same as a headstock break. A headstock break would not be a deal breaker for me.

When I saw that neck break picture I gotta say my gooch gunched up but good. I'd be wary of that but I also have very poor skills.
