One day in Philly...what to do?

shoeless

I'm going to be in Philadelphia for the day on Friday. I need some off-the-beaten-path ideas to do/see. Sure there's all the standard stuff (Rocky Steps, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc.), but I'm also looking for stuff that's a bit more interesting/obscure. Ideas?

Oh, and somebody point me to the best cheesesteak in town.

Johns roast pork or Jims for the best steaks and/or roast pork sandwiches. Monks cafe for mussles and fries. Dinics in the redding term market has great roast pork too

Tony Luke's makes a good cheesesteak.
Check out 8th St Music.
Hit a few bars on South St.?

This is the business

Roast pork, broccoli Rabe, sharp prov.

look how the juices are soaking into the bread! throw your lunch away and get one a dem. i'll be in south jersey in a few weeks...might need to make a trip to Philly just to eat.

For whatever reason, every where but in Philadelphia, a philly cheesesteak is Swiss and peppers. Its weird
Interesting. I don't know if I've ever seen swiss cheese as an option. I guess you're right about peppers everywhere else. But Sonny's has these great hot and sweet peppers that are perfect in the mix IMO.
