He took Darts in at his performance dealership and souped them up - some based on order, but after a while, he'd put them on the lot. And they sold.

So, he worked with Dodge and they developed the production GTS.

i came this close (holds fingers an inch appart) from getting a '69 Dart GTS 383, 4 speed when i was 16. got my dad over there and he thought it was pretty "snazzy" (plum purple mopar color). i was almost dancing, then he told the sales guy to start it up, let's hear it run.
well the sales guy fired up that 383 and gave it a romp on the gas....my dad looked at me and said "no f'ing way". :facepalm::(
