I grew up regularly eating fried okra, and I've always loved it. As an adult, I've also gotten very into pickled okra. But I don't really care for it otherwise. It's fine in a gumbo or something similar, but I could take it or leave it in that context.
 
It's useful as a thickening agent for many dishes, and is a tasty vegetable dish to boot.
 
It is what eating a booger must be like.
Not a fan.

I've eaten it, and have no issue with it.
Depends on how it's cooked though. Kind of like spinach, REALLY good with a lot of butter and black pepper, but undercook it or use too much of it, and it's just kind of nasty.

I use it in gumbo, because gumbo requires it, and it works. And it is good fried, like almost all edible things.

But other than that, blech.
