Official MWGL Theatrical Movie Thread....

I know this thread will likely be filled with dust and crickets because most of you don't reserve seats in a local Cineplex and go in-person... but I was looking over my Cinemark receipts and I've already seen some pretty damned good movies this year that you'll want to watch when they can stream in your homes.

Probably the biggest and best movie I've seen this year. Highly recommend. Bump my fist. :helper:

This one might not be for everyone... you don't have to be well versed in the liminal room lore from a decade or so ago online, but if you're a fan you've probably already seen this one. :baimun:

It's a little more obvious of a sequel and checks many of the sequel boxes... but your significant others will probably enjoy if you want a fun night out.

Send Help and Bone Temple both get honorable mentions... I enjoyed them quite a bit. My wife watched Send Help but it freaked her out a bit. Bone Temple was a hard nope nope nope from her.

Saw Mando and Grogu in theatres, but it will probably find its audience streaming.

Next up I have tickets for Supergirl. :helper:

I haven't been to the movies in probably 15 years. I can't even remember the last thing I saw in a theater.

The last movie I saw in a theater was Weapons. We watched Project Hail Mary at home.

I would go out to a theater more often if it was a better experience. They turn the sound systems up so loud that it distorts the speakers.

I’m looking forward to Supergirl. Drunk Supergirl and Lobo kicking ass sounds like fun to me. It looks like a great change of pace from those awful dark and gritty Synderverse movies. I honestly cannot name another movie coming out this year because when I do take my kid to the movies the trailers are so bad that I usually forget them. Except for Scary Movie, but I only remember that one because I was surprised that anyone is still giving the Wayans Brothers money to make corny parody films.

I usually only have volume problems with IMAX. We stopped going to IMAX releases because the local IMAX theater was so loud during Dune that speaker distortion rendered some dialogue inaudible. I have found that if I see a film in a small theater they usually keep the volume at a reasonable level. But the big screen at the Alamo Cinema and Drafthouse is perfect. The speakers are awesome and it’s tuned so you can feel the bass without the rest of the sound turning to shit. It made the Eras Tour movie wonderful.

Last movie I went to in the theater was Hamnet. It was very good. My wife went with some friends to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 a week or so ago. I want to see the Star Wars movie, but life has been busy.
