November original song thread

Lyrics done!
Lead vocal done!
Drums, bass, acoustic (new Taylor) done!
Hopefully, I'll get enough time this coming weekend to do everything else.

I have lyrics, drums, bass, and one guitar track done. I anticipate three more guitar tracks and at least on vocal track. I think I can get another guitar track down tonight.

Did some preliminary backing vocals this afternoon--not shaping up like I'd hoped.
Time to take a break and come at it fresh at a later date.

Just finished up all the electric guitar parts. You may never hear me EVER say this again but I laid down a few short lead breaks and I am happy with all of them.

Acoustic and vocals left. This is coming together very nicely.

Mine is finished.

I had to rewrite the lyrics since the work 'silence' sounds like total shite recorded even with a deessing plug in. My software does not break out enough to reshapre the wave form. Or if it does I don't know how to do it.

Reminder....

The originals need to be submitted to me by Wednesday night. I'll post the reveal thread on Thursday morning. I already have four I believe.

I'm on mix number two--just gotta test it in the car.
I think this may be the most tracks I've used on a home recording project--37.

Well, I had an argument with a buddy about Obama and theories of foreign policy and wound up getting a quickie song out of it yesterday.

All you people get is a live acoustic demo because I'm lazy.

DONE!

I hate all the recordings I've done so I guess I'm out. Here's the lyrics.

I don't know where I am
Familiar scenes replaced with ones approaching crude facsimile
A tower of stupidity

I don't know what I see
A burning bush for morons turning neurons into motor oil
A black list full of bones to strip and boil

But I don't mind
It's just a fantasy
A pantomime of life imitating reality

I don't know who I am
A shitty apparition or a parable of wuthering
A parody of suffering

I don't know who I see
A boy-man in his infancy, a figure bathed in carotene
It's permanently Halloween outside

But I don't mind
It's just reality
A life of pantomime imitating a fantasy

These are good. And, weirdly, they read like the vicious looking glass version of the song I wrote for this month. Though I candy coated the everliving daylights out of mine.

I made something, but I'm still getting my voice back and my studio chops up in the new location. It's rough, but I might submit it. I'm really not hearing well in my new room.... I'll try to get it in over my crappy internet provider tonight.

Proposal: to get everyone in the holiday spirit next month, can we make December the month when we all write murder ballads?

Might be a fun exercise.

Ok, I sent my song in via the PM to Dave.

No mixing, just levels set, one take guide vocal which is horrible (amazing how long it takes to build up vocal ability when you haven't really used it in many years), no compression on anything, just a bunch of raw stuff, but I think the song will be OK eventually.
Thanks!
