NLBD (new long board day)

For fun as well as speeding up my transportation while working downtown, I ordered this 34" bamboo long board from Sector 9. My building has a few sandwich shops nearby, but everything else is at least 5 to 6 blocks away, which takes much of my lunch time away. It also speeds up the time to get to my bus stop.

So after about 23 years since I last rode a skateboard, I hope I relearn quickly and painlessly!

HNLBD.....many of my friends are doing the same and reliving their teen skater years. Crank up the ST!

I think my old Roskopp & G&S are still somewhere in my parent's garage.

Awesome! Looks like a nice ride. I've still got my old Powell-Peraulta Cab around, but nowhere to ride.

Now I need some gloves to pull off a good ol' Bertlemann slide! After most of the skate parks disappeared, we used to skate urban and parking garages (before video cameras became the norm). Carving surf lines and maneuvers was second nature, being surfers first. Now, local small towns even have skate parks.

Fun! I ride my old board set up with longboard type soft Kryptonics wheels to the bank and back regularly, and around town when I can. Unfortunately, they chip sealed all the side streets this summer, so now it is like trying to ride on a cheese grater.

Nothing wrong with keeping the fun alive while expediting the lunch time hustle. Looks like a narly ride dude!

Idaho loves to chip seal roads. . . Kryptonics are the bomb if you need soft & sticky wheels :thu:

I don't think I'll be pulling any high speed slides around here. Besides, the wheels are pretty grippy.
I skated to and from my bus stops Friday. The closest afternoon stop is one of the last and the buses are fairly full by then. Now, I can skate up 6 or 8 blocks and get on earlier. Did I mention how quickly my legs burned and heart rate went up?

I saw one guy on a longboard and a big pole, as if he were using it like a paddle board, never stepping off to kick.

I have loved the last few years kicking up to the bank, then after basking in the attention from the bank people for being a middle aged lawyer riding a skateboard, being able to with basically two kicks ride back to the back door of my office. Hopefully after winter this last round of chip seal will calm down so I can again. I do see some new black top around that I could go surf. A longer board than what I have could be fun, but it is hard to justify. I just will not end up going as straight down hill as the young kids and will keep my speed down by turning more.
