Dig it! NGD - Gibson content

It's a Gibson Les Paul Special with P-90's. Sam Ash is clearing these out at $579. With 24 months at 0% interest on the SA card, that's about $25/month. So I bit. It's really a very nice guitar. The neck is nice and chunky. And the slug coil P90s sound great. And it came with a funky gold case.

I wonder if it's an attempt to separate the Special from the Standard DC models...?
The Special seems to be a more stripped down version.
