What do the2 switches do? Coil taps?

Yeah, pretty much. When in single coil mode is engaged, it steals a few winds from the other side for noiselessness.

How do those string pegs work? Do you unscrew/screw the black top piece when you change strings to loosen/hold the string inside the peg?
