New Vintage Guild Day

Kelly and I occasionally like to visit pawn shops together on her days off. Today took us to a CashAmerica in Merrionette Park, IL just south of Chicago. I saw this hanging on the wall and made a beeline to it. It's a 1978 USA Guild S-60. It appears to be all original except for the tuners. At one point, it suffered a headstock break that was repaired well. At some point, this will need a refret. But it's still a great deal. $109 out the door including taxes.

The pickup and electronics are not original. This has an old DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup in it that sounds great. I cleaned it, did a minor setup on it, and gave it fresh strings. Even though the frets are worn, this thing sounds and plays great.

That is a wacky looking Guild. Hard to go wrong at that price, even with the fret and headstock repair. I imagine a lot of these odd models will increase in value in the future.
