New pedal day: Monstro Matamp

I just received Monstro’s Matamp pedal in the mail. This thing is nuts. It nails that classic Matamp sound you hear on Sleep’s album Dopesmoker. Like the DAM Sonic Titan this pedal has both a preamp and a FET power amp section. So it’s very fuzzy but with the burning hot sound of a saturated power amp. It can get crazy loud, even with the boost all the way down. This is perfect for doom!

Yup. Zipped right through customs. I’m not too surprised, the USPS has dramatically improved international receiving times in the last couple years. Similarly, I’ve had packages from Russia and Australia arrive in under a week.

Maybe I’ll try recording something later this week. But really, posting a video would be a cruel thing to do to the maker. My playing is…awful.
