NBD - 80's Peavey USA content

So, way back in the 80's, I wanted to learn to play bass. Finally convinced my parents to buy me a Peavey Patriot in satin mahogany for Christmas (1986, I think). Since I went back to being primarily a bass player last year, I realized I really really wanted to find a Peavey Patriot again, in satin mahogany. I've gone through a fair number of basses, but haven't found another Patriot. Until today. I open Craigslist and there she sits, a Patriot in satin mahogany in fantastic condition. Dude was asking $200. I emailed and offered $160, expecting to meet in the middle or even come up to the $200, but he accepted the $160 immediately.

Icing on the cake, it came with the original hardshell case

The foam inside is falling apart, but other than that these cases are freaking bulletproof. I am super psyched to grab this for $160, and can't wait for band practice tomorrow to give it a good workout. Tone report to follow.

Congrats. It’s amazing what you can get those old USA Peavy basses for, because they’re great instruments.

There is a sweet Ibanez in a local pawn shop that has my name all over it. I just need a job and bass amp. An Ampeg B108 works for me.

Ok, I am officially pissed off...

I have been looking for a satin Patriot bass that hasn't been altered or beat to shit for years now and you show up with that? And paid HOW MUCH for it?

:Rage:

...dibs on it when you decide to sell it...

Dibs are yours, but I am planning to hold onto it - I really missed the one I had in the 80's.

Then again I know me, and I eventually trade or sell everything :)

I'm gonna hold you to that, sir...

And Happy New Bass Day!

Got to run it through my full rig tonight, even though we had an abbreviated band practice - it sounds and plays fantastically.

Score! HNBD!

I just missed out on a sweet Yamaha 5-string because logistics and because I have more than enough basses. (Two is quite a lot, they basically just go thump thump thump anyway, right?)

HNBD! I had a Peavey bass a while back (can't remember the model but it was really nice), like most of their US made equipment you can tell it can survive just about anything happening to it.

Congrats on finding the guitar you wanted for a good price. By the way, I enjoyed the videos on Facebook; you guys sounded good.

Their U.S. gear is indeed solid - this bass was made in 87 from what I can tell on the serial number, seller told me it had been sitting ignored for 7 years, and it doesn't even need a setup. Slapped some new strings on and she's good to go.
