Well, it turns our that it wasn't actually a mistake in wiring that caused the explosion. Each rear panel jack (line outs, chorus and reverb switch etc) has an inline little module the screws to the heat sink. Each one has a thin plastic adhesive wafer between the metal contact surfaces that is affixed to the bottom of the module. One of them "spun" during the reassembly and allowed the two metal surfaces to touch.

Ouch.

I think I may have dodged a bullet. Looks like one more jumper wire for the LED, and it "should" be ok. It plugs in, and flipping the power switch causes no drama. 118~120V across the switch, fuse and PCB. The chassis is out, so no way to "hear" if it's working, but the steady voltage and lack of fireworks is a positive sign.

And the pilots was laid to da bone holme!
