Maybe it's different where you live.... but where I live, "tube steak" is a slang term for the prime piece of meat that a guy voluntarily gives to his date... if ya know what I mean.

That is what I was reading, too. I always assumed it came from some cut of meat I'd never heard of, and just learned here that it's a euphemism for a hot dog.
