Hmm. Don't care for it aesthetically, but it sounds like something Phil Keaggy could make amazing music with. 'Course, he could make amazing music with a shoebox and rubber bands, probably.

Nope. Gimmicky, as usual, departure from the norm via yet another big imagination. Art form meets art form meets like poles.
 
I agree that it sounds beautiful, but then I have to wonder how much of that is the guitar itself, and how much is that based on what a good studio production can do for the sound.
