One of my wife fav anime's from the past year or so is 'Yuri On Ice', a anime based around figure skating. The lead character, Yuri, has a weakness for Katsudon - or pork cutlet bowls.
For Christmas my daughter gave my wife a ceramic bowl to hold Katsudon (not the bowl pictured below) with pictures from the anime on the bowl. I decided I should learn how to make Katsudon. So I chased down the ingredients (had to go to an Asian market for a few) and looked up the recipe on the net.
The result!
Rice topped with a fried pork cutlet, egg, and onions. I'm obviously not a Japanese cook - but it came out pretty dang tasty! Ironic thing is my wife won't eat pork (or onions...) so I made her a chicken cutlet bowl with peas instead of onions.
