Details:
The Run Around, Jeremy Kitt's band, https://www.facebook.com/TheRunAroundBand has allowed us to put on a recordingfest, JEREMYFEST!! in honor of Jeremy and to support his family. The idea is you record a The Run Around song, after paying a "royalty" donation into the Jeremy Kitt Memorial Fund in support of Jeremy's surviving family. http://www.gofundme.com/9qa10s Suggested minimum donation is $20.oo. Give more if you can. If you can't give $20, still participate, and give what you can. As stated above, the permission to use The Run Around's songs is given only for the purposes of this benefit, and no further distribution, recording, performing, or use of their material beyond this recordingfest benefit is allowed without specific written permission or consent from the band. Probably doesn't have to be said, but on the other hand, it does.

The Run Around will select its top few favorites and promote them on their band pages with links to the artist or band performing the cover as well. The guys are really excited for us to do this to honor Jeremy in this way.

No other rules than that. Record your own version, join with some others, whatever. Just pick a song and rock it. Simple, heartfelt, and to the point in honor of Jeremy, and in support of his family. Donate now (or as soon as you can) and get started. Reveal on July 9, 2014.

Ok, I am a hack guitarist looking for someone(s) to collaborate with me on a cover of "Chicago". I am not sure how we would want to do this, but I could play some guitar, either over the entire track, or we could get a few guys taking turns or something. We will need drums and bass too. Anyone interested in joining forces? Just donate something and say you are in, and we can talk about getting started.

I'm down. Donation made...

Should we have a running list of tunes so people don't do the same ones, or does that matter?

Great idea...

We can do a list, so folks know. But I think folks should do whatever song they are moved to do, regardless if it has been done or not.

As for me, I hope to participate in a collaboration of a cover of "Chicago", and do a simple, solo version of the song "Henry".

I'll see what I can do. Time is going to be tight for me over the next month, with me going on vacation smack dab in the middle of the time period, but I should be able to knock something out with the time that I have.

I doubt very much that I will be able to do a song, but I will donate what I can and I look forward to hearing all of the submissions

If anyone needs chords/progressions for any of our songs just let me know.

Might as well post the chords to "Chicago" right here on the forum, because it's definitely getting played at our annual gathering in West Virginia (Prages and Mrs. P host it at their place.... search above for "Pragestock" to see what a drunken blast that weekend is. )

Ok, I am all in. Listen to this crap recording of me trying to learn the darned song. Don't worry, I will get better.

Come on, I know there are a lot of others that can do better than this crap! Fortunately, @Modern Saint (will cover bass and some vocals, maybe some guitar) and @baimun (Vocals, guitar) are going to help me with this collaboration cover of Chicago. We are still looking for someone to put together some drums for us. @Prages? @micwalt? @Dexter Inferno ? If interested message me. I am also going to try to do my solo little cover of Henry, another one of the band's songs. Others have expressed interest in that song too. I say the more the merrier. (@Modern Saint )

Once we get a recording put together, I am hoping to put together something like a "backing track" of this song (Chicago) so others who can't commit to a full recording can pay a fee and record over the top of the track, one after another. That could be a lot of fun too.

So, if I can do it, you can too. Get in here! Plus, it is fun and a really great way to remember Jeremy, and a great way to continue to support his family. I hope some more of you will join in.

And, if you can help me with drums on Chicago please let me know!

Hope you guys (and gals?) are having fun with our brand of punk rock debauchery...

This band always spends a lot of time together because we happen to be one of the lucky ones that all like each other on a personal level. Since Jeremy's passing I think our girlfriend's are starting to get a little worried at just how much time. This past weekend we came up with The idea, inspired by this recording fest , to record a couple of Jeremy's favorite bands and do them acoustically. We did a Rancid song and a Social Distortion song.

We'll post them on here when they are done in The next 24 hours... Aka whenever Fabian stops being a lazy ass and renders them off his computer...

I'll be donating $40 to the collection at the show since we said. $20 a song right? Fair is fair.

Hope to see some of you at The HOB on 6/21! We'll be playing the 2 covers we recorded for Jeremy at The Show!
