Is this a decent price?

Guy on my local craigslist has a Yamaha stage custom set for sale. It has the bass drum, two toms, a floor tom, and a hi-hat w/cymbals. No snare included. He's asking $275. It's an older Yamaha stage custom because the badge isn't the same as the current stuff, it's black and square. Think I should jump on it?

Alex, that might not be a bad price if it's in good shape. Since it's an older kit, I'd be sure and check out two things: first, I'd inspect each drum to make sure the bearing edges are in good shape (I once bought a kit and missed the ding on the bearing edge of the bass drum), and the inner plies of the shell aren't showing any signs of separation. If after that, you find the drums are in good shape, then I'd offer $200.

Here's a pic. They have new Remo heads. Going to look at them Friday.

We have the Satin finish version of those drums in the drum room at Premier. I pad $550 per set as a closeout/volume deal when I bought two of them 10 years ago. I think thats a decent price.
