I just bought a few boutique pedals that are clones of crap I could buy for $30

I only use the finest air-dried seasonal wild-foraged New Old Stock germanium transistors for my distortion needs. Or maybe a Captain-Unobtainable-modded DS1 if I'm feeling feisty.

Also I mostly play bass these days anyway and the secret to bass distortion is don't use bass distortion and the other secret is no, really don't. (So I use an Ubertrieber, because I have learning difficulties.)

Tempting but the last time I had a funky ring mod effect all I did with it was make wacky space robot noises and generally annoyed my bandmates more than usual.
