...and selling my Washburn WP50 Les Paul ..

Those who have been around for awhile now should be familiar with this guitar...

It's a 1989, modded with Gibson 57 classic pickups... it's been with me for 35 years now, but for the past 5 or so years it's been nothing more than a case queen...

I was born with arthritis in my knees, and it's been migrating north ever since...about 10 years ago it started impacting my hands but I was able to work through it with various analgesics and hot wax therapies, but they have become ineffective over the past 5 years...

I can still "play" for about 10-15 minutes before it becomes too painful, but the loss of flexibility and dexterity makes it impossible to enjoy...

Im starting to sell off my guitar collection, but plan on keeping a few select instruments that either I still like to "play" or that have less desirability in the market (go ahead, try to sell a partscaster, I dare you)...the Washburn has actually gone up in value over the years...

I remember once telling @Bob411 I was going to leave it to him in my will (which I actually did)...he may not have to wait that long...

Anyways, not sure what I wanted to accomplish with this post...I think I just needed to put my thoughts into writing, and consign them to the ether...thank you in advance for your support...
 
Mojo for the arthritis.

My opinion, keep the Washburn if it's the one you want to play at those times you can. If you're only going to get limited time, you might as well have the best you can for it. YMMV.
 
Mojo. I can appreciate your medical situation.

I have Psoriatic Arthritis. It twisted my toes into odd positions on my left foot. I had surgery to remove all the toe joints from that foot and they fused the big toe, bent to one side so I could get the foot into shoes. It’s now under control with two injections of Cosentyx every 4 weeks. Thank goodness for biological medicines.

I’m sure that Washburn is a great guitar. Unfortunately, they don’t demand Les Paul money in today’s market. People sometimes list those for $2000, but they don’t seem to sell for that much money. One in exceptional condition might sell for $750 to $900. In lesser condition, they sell for less.

None of my guitars are particularly valuable in the used market. Most are worth less than I paid. Certainly, they are worth more to me. I think I could possibly break even, or make a slight profit, on one Gibson and one Fender model that I own. It’s stupidly based on the legacy of those brands.
 
As a fellow arthritis sufferer (osteo in my hands and wrists, among other joints), I fully understand your mental and physical pain. Having something you love to do being slowly taken away is a bitch to slog through.

I'll keep the Taylor 522e acoustic, the Reverend Club King, and the Squier CV 50's Tele.
