Ibanez Destroyer Explorer 2459 Korina 1976 Natural

Nice and I don't even mind the Washburn Wonderbar...I've got no use for an Explorer though. Can't imagine I ever will. Like the Flying V, I appreciate them but have no interesting in owning them.

I actually prefer the later, more jagged Destroyers.

Not sure if the Wonderbar got a fair shake in its time but the time has clearly passed. Seems like you would want to go back to a traditional stop tail and tune-o-matic if at all possible.

Fully possible, the Wonderbar was only a top mounting unit, so the only holes would be the four mounting holes. Fill them up with dowels (or wood putty if it doesn't bother you) and remount the original bridge and tailpiece. A Kahler would have left a nice gouge, while a Floyd would have...well, you know. Pat Simmons from the Doobie Brothers still uses the Wonderbar on his Strats (some of them anyway). Supposed to have been a really good unit, but came into the game too late and were really just too bulky for most folks. I think the basic design was quite solid, but they could have done it in a far smaller form factor and at the very least a much smaller footprint.

Oh yeah, the main reason I replied to this...I prefer the latter destroyers as well. I used to want one with the cherryburst flamemaple top. I'd probably make an exception to my lack of interest in the general Explorer body shape for one.

I know they do a reissue, but the finish is too clowny...the old ones, however, were nice (or have aged well):

That's a great-looking guitar! I don't like the look of the bridge, though. Looks like someone put head gear and braces on a gorgeous model.

Price is stupid. I could buy a new Gibson from Zzzounds for less money. I could see paying $250–$350 if it came with a case.
