For $250 it was just too good a deal to pass up and I didn't have a guitar with humbuckers and he threw in a set of locking tuners.
I'll probably change out the pickups eventually....any suggestions?

Very nice! If you change out the pickups, I would suggest that you wire it like the much-lamented Big Apple strat (best of both worlds -- Duncan '59 in the neck, Pearly Gates in the bridge, and the wiring gives you single coil and HB options):
