It was two years ago. It didn't do very well, because the initial street price ($1899 ) for a high-gain Fender made everyone ignore it. Only those that actually tried it really loved it. Some even bought at that price.
I think that Fender hit a home run, as it a really versatile, but again, us luddites for the most part do not equate Fender with high-gain other than the EVH offerings, and at that price, not too many were willing to give it a spin. At less than one third, I'm very willing.
