I thought the 1st series were way off the mark with respect to the name. This one looks like yet another morphing of the Honda Civic. Man, all those little cars look the same to me. Call it that or a new Hyundai Veloster and I'd'a believed you, sans the logo.

I owned two different Sciroccos. This looks nothing like either, but I like it anyway.

I still smile every time I see an old one on the street.

I think it's hot. I'm going to buy a car later this year and was thinking of a Subaru, but the more I look, the more I can't make up my mind.

Consider a 'rocco if you're moving to euroland...otherwise, they don't import them to the U.S. (unless your post is otherwise unrelated to the topic at hand).

I think it's ok but when it was first introduced, I was more into it in that 'oh we can't get that...want' way...the Corrado was kinda more the successor to the second gen rocco in my mind, even though there was some overlap, and it would have been neat to see that model progress. IIRC Scirocco is still on the mkv golf platform even though the golf has moved on to the MBQ platform, shared with the A3 & Seat Leon Mk3.

I think it is pretty hot.

I really want this Golf 400R. Imagine 400HP and AWD in a car the size and weight of a Golf.

Uh-huh. For what? Unless you live in a spot where there is ZERO foul weather, the little VW will become a death-wagon. Now, if you DO happen to live in a place where there is zero foul weather, it would be a blast....but I just don't see it as practical. Of course, we need a Snow-Cat for a few months out of the year, so call me jaded. Just doesn't seem very practical in real-life applications.

Where I live the only foul weather is the odd hurricane and afternoon tropical rains. We all buy our tires from the summer only high performance section, so a car like that would be a blast to drive.

I don't think you're jaded, I think you just might be missing concept of driving around in a sporty/sports car for fun, outside of just transporting yourself from point A to point B....plenty of people in the snow belt do it.

The MkV R32 & MkVII R both have easily available aftermarket turbo upgrade kits available that take them over 400 HP. Why wait? Do it!

while i'm trying not to buy a car, i had been looking at the Golf until I realized I couldn't fit my gear, and be a baby sherpa at the same time with it. so now i'm looking at the Jetta Sportwagen.
