Hendrix on Dick Cavett show 1969

I know, I know....another Hendrix clip. I'd never seen this one before and stumbled across it today. Even though he's playing an SG, it's still upside down. I will never understand why, even after he had "made it", he continued to play guitars upside down.

There were a lot fewer options available for lefties in the 50's and 60's, and by the time he 'made it', Jimi was probably quite comfortable playing them upside down. It also arguably added to his signature sound, at least on strats. The longer string length on the bass strings, as well as the reversed angle of the bridge pickup have been emulated by right handers trying to cop his sound. Whatever, it seemed to work for him. Plus, as I understand it, jimi played strats right off the music store hangers, with the nut swaped and the strap button moved to the other horn. No custom shop/artist series guitars.
