GTA V

I just won myself an impromptu street race, thanks to the smooth flow of Snoop Dogg and some Gin & Juice. :cool :

We picked up our copy this afternoon.

Wow!

The map is freaking huge, and the graphics are crazy.

I will have much fun with this game. I need a good dose of rocket launcher fueled mayhem.

I still haven't unlocked a rocket launcher, but I did get the minigun to train with at the shooting range.

I just completed the missions where Michael smokes a potent joint and kills aliens, and where franklin is recording 'Americas Sweetheart' getting ploughed in the Hershey highway

Those were both AWESOME, although the alien one was hard at first. I've got everything set up for the first heist...

Also, check out the LifeInvader website and all the other shit. Here's what Jimmy posted about Tracey: "I seriously think you might have broken some record for the most DNA consumed by a human body."

And the ever popular: "Are you playing the field or just fucking the tam?"

Don't forget to check out the Scientologist page and order an escort!

I got a pal on FB that's having issues with this game.

here's what he said

No more missions, no more phone, no more internet, no more switching characters, no more map, no more fun.

anyone else have this happen?

he's ps3, if that matters

I'm thinking maybe just a bum disc...?

yeah, I saw your post about it, seemed you had no problems.
and none of my toygeek pals are having trouble either.

must be either his disc or his system, I guess.

It's still pretty buggy, even after this update.

that drives me crazy...
I get the whole release date thing, but dammit, don't put the friggin' product out if it ain't ready.
I'd rather wait for the proper thing, ya know?

the LotR Lego game was awful before the updates...
stuff didn't work, you'd fall thru the ground, etc.
it was damn near unplayable in parts.

it's better since the fix, but still not 100% right.

and for GTAV, a game with this much hype, they should have made damn sure they got it right the first time.
that's gonna piss off a lot of people.

give ya an idea...I've been a fan of TT's Lego games forever.
that said, after LotR (and the subsequent DC stuff where the characters actually talk) I will not be buying anything from them again.
they took one of the best parts (the murmuring instead of talking) and replaced it, and then they put out product that doesn't perform as it should.
and do very little (if anything) to fix it.

these games run about $60-70 up here.
I don't have that kind of money to throw around.

damn shame.

I'll tell ya this, they better not fuck up that new Red Dead game...

Unfortunately a sandbox game like GTA is a lot harder to nail all of the bugs, especially when the actual playable game map is larger than the real-life city of Toronto. They elminate as many variables as they can, but a certain character with one haircut, the wrong shoes, and a certain stolen car could have some weird game busting bug that you'll have no idea about. At least Rockstar has been proactive, and released three updates so far, including one major one.

yeah, that's true, it's abigger thingwith a game like that.
but Lego LotR?
no excuse.

and RDR had no bugs that I recall...also by Rockstar.
though a smaller scope than the new GTA, for sure.

all that said, I'd hate to be one of the guys making the games these days
I get enough hate as it is.

RDR was pretty buggy the first few weeks, especially with regards to Marston getting stuck and horses disappearing. Also quite a sidequests were bugged and couldn't be completed... just like GTA. :embarrassed:

I never had any of those issues, and I was on board pretty quick after it came out...
got lucky, I guess.

I've read that some of the LotR issues I'm having were fixed a ways back...but I ws playing yesterday, and they weren't.

I guess we just gotta accept that it's gonna be this way.
we shouldn't have to, but there it is.

I played it for about 5 hours and quickly lost interest.

There's so much to do though... I turned off the SAT NAV setting that shows you the roads to take and have been making my own way around by looking at the map Apart from giving the game a bit more longevity, you come across as sorts of stuff you other wise wouldn't and just now I'm spending more time running around doing daft extra stuff like playing golf and sky diving that the actual story line.

The missions are repetitive and practically the same as the last game. I don't find the story compelling and the characters aren't interesting. Sure I could drive around looking at shit and going to strip clubs but it's not a real place and those aren't real titties. Go outside you might find the real world a whole lot more interesting.
