Nope.

I've got an Epi Masterbuilt DR500 A/E that has a Shadow NanoFlex pickup under the shadow, and a Shadow NanoMag pickup at the end of the fretboard, so I understand what they were going for on the Rancher. On the Epi, the neck pickup blends in perfectly. On the Rancher, the Filtertron sticks out like a sore thumb.

If you string it with acoustic strings, they aren't going to sound great through that pickup.

If you string it with electric strings, it's not going to sound good as an acoustic.

Yes, brass makes a poor magnetic field, so you need to use steel strings for pickup use.

I would think so. I know John Lennon did that in the 60s but we've had 40 years of progress amplifying acoustics.
