Gibson experts... help needed!

I don't have much help for you except I'm happy to hang on to the Tweedy if this is looking like a good substitute for you.
 
It's too bad that the guy was a compulsive modder, who "just had" to mega mess with a decent guitar (above and beyond the hardware and electronics), to "improve" it. It's too bad he couldn't have done so to a cheaper guitar. If the neck's OK, you can have a decent player, for a pretty modest outlay in cash to replace some of the missing hardware.
 
Clean er up, slap on some tuners and a bridge, and let er rip.
I wouldn't bother trying to refinish that mess. Might sand off the mojo:wink:
Slap some stickers or something on there and go with it.
