Sadly, thats not a euphemism for something fun. Plumber is just finishing up unclogging our main sewer line :embarrassed:

It did sound like something fun though...

Man,I feel for you....Things like that are the main reason why I don't miss living in a house, and believe me,I've been there..

Wells,septic tanks,etc,always something...

That's not a bad job, you could have done it yourself.
Actually, I would have attempted it yesterday but I lent my snake to my brother in law last week and didn't get it back. By the time I would have gotten it from him, endured a couple of days of no kitchen sink and then attempted the job it was wort5h the $95. Plus even his motorized snake had a little trouble with the clog and it was pretty far down the line so I probably would have given up and called anyway.

$95.00 is very reasonable. I've seen the same thing cost over $200.00. :embarrassed:

$95 is pretty darn good. May have cost that much to rent a motorized snake.
We have the larger chain plumbers charging $99 to come out for one drain so thats set the bar low for the independents. What they are trying to do is to get in the door so that they can sell you other services. When we moved in I had the drain snaked by "Mike Diamond Plumbers" and the guy spent the whole time trying to up-sell me into a $400 drain cleaning (which I knew I didn't need). And most of the bigger plumbers in the area owned by the same company so there is no actual competition if you call one of them. They even share customer quotes so they know if you call around.

One of my customers owns one of the local plumber shop so I called her yesterday. They got someone out here first thing in the morning and took care of the problem quickly and cleanly. Definitely worth not going through the hassle of doing it myself.

I have to do it about every year and a half. There's a very large tree growing right over my main. When it starts draining slow we call the guy and he clears the roots out. He also recommended using cheap tp as it breaks down faster than the good stuff when it hangs up on the roots. Last year I bought a gallon of some acid stuff an poured it down the clean out and it seemed to work.
