Fender makes car audio systems now?

I was looking at the all-new 2015 Volkswagen GTI.

Go to the 'Trim' tab, both the 2.0T SE & the 2.0T Autobahn have the 'Fender premium audio system'.

Can I get gold hardware and a middle pickup on it?

They've had previous models with Fender systems that came with a guitar. One model featured a guitar input.
I've never seen one in use.

Yeah, this. Fender provides the name. Panasonic makes the stuff. They have been in VW cars for a while now.

No thanks, I had a 12'' Fender speaker from a musicmaster bass amp tossed onto the backseat of my Cutlass back in 89 and that sounded like shit.

Makes sense. The radio in my dad's old VW sounded like the 2 or 4 switch position on a strat.
