Favorite John Paul Jones basslines?

avuncular to no one
Mine used to be Ramble On. So much movement while still being super solid.

Today, however, it has been replaced by Hey Hey What Can I Do. This is probably my favorite Zep tune...at least it has spent the longest tenure on that necessarily myopic list. That said I've not focused on the bassline much before, but today it jumped above all of other instrumentation.

I think JPJ might be the best musician in the band despite my huge appreciation of Plant's ever evolving vocals, Bonzo's drums, and Page's guitaring and arranging ( the latter being arguably more important to the band).

So many great ones, it's hard to decide.

- The breakdown in "the Lemon Song" is awesome.
- Try playing his bass line in "the Immigrant Song", especially the chorus. Wow.
- Can't go wrong with "Ramble On"

To me it's all about the chemistry between a bass player and drummer. In recent years JPJ sometimes plays gigs with Seasick Steve who has a really good drummer.
