Favorite Drummer?

I cannot fucking believe it took 31 posts for Neil to be mentioned, cliched as it may be.

I also cannot believe it has taken 39 posts for someone to mention Bill fucking Bruford :gah:

Well, the question was not who do we think the 'best" is, it was who is our favorite. for me, those are not neccesarily one and the same. It is hard to argue that Neil is the absolute best of the best, but I actually prefer to listen to guys like aldridge, Grohl, and Rockenfield. Neil is like a study in perfection. some of the other dudes are more of a study of animal power and energy, not that Neil doesnt have those, but When I think of Neil, I think more of polish and finess than I do good old rock power and energy like I do with some of the others. so, Yes I think Neil is the best, but still he is not my favorite. I imagine it is similar for others as well?

Absolutely agree with your assessment; however, they ARE my favorites

Josh Freese. He plays with the energy of a sixteen-year-old on Mountain Dew and cigarettes but with a ton of musicality, feel, and finesse. An incredible career résumé as well.

Lately I've been listening to (and trying to steal from) Marco Minnemann.

Technically quite perfect, and quite the chameleon. One of those guys who can convincingly pull off pretty much everything.

Since the YouTube vid that I posted in this thread 2 years ago is now inactive... my favorite drummer is Paul Motian. RIP.

My "Favorite" Drummer isn't whom I would say is the "Best" Drummer, but he's DAMNED good and has AMAZING style.

Mark Brzezicki (Big Country, The Cult and MANY MANY MANY More).

My favorites are Neil Peart and Jimmy Chamberlain. I don't know many drummer names so I'm going with those.
