But you've considered that most people aren't going to do that. They're just going to play it on their electric guitar. And that the purpose of the demo isn't necessarily to be authentic, just reminiscent. Right?

That demo seems a lot more musical than a real FZ-1. The original FZ-1 was very gated, and had zero sustain. The FZ-1A had some sustain and was a little smoother. I owned a real FZ-1A for along time, I prefered it over the original model because I found it more versatile.
The EHX sounds a little more generic psychodelia, certainly in the same ballpark as the Fuzztone, but also the California Jordan Bosstone, Analogman Peppermint Fuzz, etc. But that could a side-effect of modern parts, the wider tolerances of the old parts, and I guessing they aren't running at 1.5V like the original Gibsons.
