Effects loop in amps, do you need one or don't?

Absolutely necessary for me, as I generally use both of my amps drives and need the loop for the time based fx and lead boost (I don't trust most FOH sound guys with that stuff).

I just recently started using the fx loop in a couple of my amps with a Hall of Fame reverb pedal. I don't think I would buy an amp based on fx loop or not.

I use mine constantly. Multi effect for time based effects goes in there as well as a clean volume boost for solos (cant do that in front of a 2 channel amp on the distorted channel) and most importantly I have a 10 band EQ in the loop to really fine tune the tone. It makes a big difference in my tone with the EQ in there.

I would only buy an amp with a loop... otherwise it's just too constraining.

My MusicMan 100 RD head sounds great with the POD 2.0 in the effects loop. The head has a transister pre and tube power sections.
