Edumacate Me On bandcamp

I have been audio-itioning the metal selections on bandcamp. It seems a number if the posts have unduly long intros, 20 seconds to over 1 minute, where the music repeats, low volume, no crescendo (these are not live takes, so there is no changing of instruments, tech/sound issues). Is this a new norm for recordings?

I guess it depends on what you're listening to. There's a ton of stuff on Bandcamp. It can't all possibly be good. Some of my favorite records were released on Bandcamp though.

Once past the long intro, some of the tunes capture my attention. It seems odd to attach the long intro.
