That is a good price on that Lowden. I prefer the 'O' series but that looks like one seriously sweet instrument.
I would get the one you want and love better. If it is the Tweedy, it is only a wee-bit more as you say. I got to play one of those that my buddy one in a Wilco photo contest, and it was pretty sweet. I was very much impressed by how much sound came out of the differently shaped body. Whichever one you do, enjoy! It's a wee-bit cheaper than the Tweedy. I've got about half the cash together, so as long as I can sell off a bit more of my superfluous gear, it might happen. Just have to hope it doesn't sell first.
And a new crazy thought: get the Tweedy 00-DB like I originally planned, then spend the rest on a nice mandolin.
Maybe.
Have you played a Tweedy yet? Martins tend to be hit or miss....more miss actually. Especially new ones. Some break in and sound a lot better.
Sigh.
You were expecting another outcome?
Hey, I'm trying to play as many as I can before making a decision. I even found a local guy that deals in vintage instruments and am going to check out his HUGE inventory of J45/50s from 1954-1967.
Three other instruments I'm very interested in trying (clips of the actual instruments available):

I seem to be preferring Spruce and Mahogany overall.
Right now the Collings CJ at Artisan seems the likely winner. I love J45s, but can't find a decent new Gibson one. And fuck Gibson anyway. I know a lot of people don't care for how "stiff" Collings acoustics are to start with, but a few years of daily play will open it up well I think.
Collings stiff?? Ever played a new Gibson? And the Collings will break in inside 6 months to a noticeable level. These post are giving me MAJOR acoustic GAS....just to let you know.
That's why either a CJ or a vintage Gibson is my only option at a "J45". I think it's the Adirondack crew that's complaining about stiffness. The sitka or German ( ) is a lot more broken-in off the bat to my ears.
