Chopsticks and spoon. I'm a lefty, so chopsticks in the left hand, spoon in the right.

Oh -- and just don't dump a basil stalk into the soup -- shred a couple of leaves and put them in. Also -- never put in bean sprouts; they cool down the broth quickly and screw it up.

Damn -- it's getting to be close to lunchtime here...

Then your broth isn't hot enough . The broth should already have the base flavour, and the basil/bean sprouts/shirachi is added to personalize it. We get extra bean sprouts. I eat it about once a week during the colder weather and alternate between pho and bun in the warmer days. Always with cafe sua da

oh and never with a fork.

My Vietnamese co-worker introduced me to Pho and sour sop.

He was honest about the different kinds of Pho. So, he's still considered a friend.

"That's tripe. You won't eat it."

We have a bit of a regional chain around here that's pretty good.

That picture above is actually a Costco Pho that comes frozen and you add water and nuke it.
It's not great, but it's pretty good. It'll do when you can't get out to a good Pho restaurant.
Next time you're here I'll have to take you for Pho.

I used to pho on a weekly basis. Haven't found the appropriate places for such things since moving though :(
