Do I want a Ping-made Floyd Rose or a 1000-series Floyd Rose

Those of you who've had experience with both, which would you say is better? Is the only difference the logo being laser etched on the Ping and the Ping lacking plating on the brass block or is there more to it?

I ask because I've got a line on both for excellent prices and an OFR is beyond what I'd have available funds-wise for quite a while.

Yes, I want a Floyd.

It's my understanding that the 1000 series are made by ping.

I would take whichever one has the heavier (probably unplated brass) block.


I have a vintage German Floyd I could make you a nice deal on. It has what I call a "tall boy" block because it was designed to sit up on top of a Charvel without a body route. All the measurements are the same everywhere else though.

So, it's got a 42mm block? That's what I use since this would be for a non-recessed setup. It's chrome? If so, PM me with a price shipped to 07070.
